The fish and the fisherman
Â
At a little lake there was a fisherman lets see what is happening there…..
Â
Fish: Please, oh please, let me go!
Fisherman: I’m sorry, little friend, I truly am, but I have a family to feed.

Fish: But the water is so cool and the sun feels so warm on my scales.

Fisherman: The wind is turning cold, and my children have not eaten since yesterday.

Fish: I have a family too, waiting for me near the colorful coral reef.

Fisherman: I know, and it breaks my heart, but I must choose my children over the sea.

Fish: Is there no other way? I can find you shiny rocks or sunken shells!

Fisherman: Shells cannot be cooked, and shiny rocks cannot stop a hungry tummy from aching.

Fish: My mother told me humans were kind, and that you loved the river as much as we do.

Fisherman: I do love the river, but love does not fill an empty bowl.

Fish: If you take me, the reef will be a little quieter, and my chair at the seaweed table will be empty.

Fisherman: And if I let you go, the chairs at my table will stay empty too, and my little ones will cry.

Fish: I am very scared, Mr. Fisherman. The air is so thin and the bucket is so dark.

Fisherman: I am scared too, little fish. Scared that I cannot provide for the ones I love.

Fish: Please... I just want to go home.

Fisherman: I’m so sorry. I wish the world was different, but I must take you home with me.

Narrator: The fish stopped wiggling and looked at the sky one last time.

Narrator: The fisherman wiped a tear from his eye and began to row his boat back to the shore.

Narrator: The river stayed very, very still.

Narrator: And the fisherman walked home in the dark, his heart feeling as heavy as his catch
