Fitness Friday: Fall Running

As you read this we are, gods of the airs willing, safely and swiftly on our way home to Ottawa. Derek may or may not be medicated beside me and it may or may not feel to me like I am taking care of three children instead of two.

We won’t arrive till late tonight, but I’m already looking forward to a sunny and busy weekend in Ottawa.

I’ve got the house keys safely stowed away, not like the time we returned from Mexico only to be locked out of the house in the wee hours of the morning.

Now that we’ve left Costa Rica, I know I will miss the ocean and everything that goes along with it.

When I get back to Canada, I am looking forward to random things like my memory foam bed, wearing jeans and the occasional long sleeve top, dogs on leashes, make up and the public library.

Fitness Friday

Let’s talk running goals. I had originally decided that my main race this fall would be the Toronto Harbourfront Marathon.

And then my friend Molly asked me to run in a relay from Ottawa to Montebello on the same date as the marathon. A relay is something I’ve been wanting to do. And well, I feel like I was never fully committed to the Toronto event.

So I’m in for the relay on October 14th.

And the marathon, well I’ve actually gone and registered for the Ottawa Fall Colours Marathonthe week before on October 7th. The word in the running community is that it is a hard run, but it’s close to home, small and convenient. So I’m in. 42.2 here I come.

I’m also registered for the Army Run on Sep 23rd, so I’ll have to take that as a really slow, fun and motivating training run.

Has anyone run the Fall Colours Marathon? What am I in for?
